Opening of Savings Account digitally with Meethaq.


Dear Customer,

To open a Savings account with Meethaq, please download the account opening form (Click Here) and fill it in your language of choice (Arabic or English). You may also review the terms and conditions pertaining to accounts and deposits.

Please follow the below instructions so that we can timely process your request:

  1. Download the electronically editable account opening form to open a savings account. Note: for opening current account, please visit your nearest branch.
  2. Fill the form on your Personal Computer or compatible electronic device and save the form.
    Note: No need to print the form & fill or sign by hand. You may review the T&C for the opted product by clicking here.
  3. Please make sure to fill all the applicable sections of the form. Submission of incomplete form will delay processing of your request. We recommend that the form is filled electronically on the computer instead of by hand so it can be easily read.
  4. Send the Account Opening Form along with the required documents to: Meethaqaccservices@bankmuscat.com
  5. Please write your National ID / Resident ID number in the subject of the email, this will help us track your emails.
  6. If the Account Opening Form is incomplete or does not meet the standards, you will receive an email within 2 working days.
  7. If the Account Opening Form and related documents are complete, you will receive a confirmation call at the provided GSM number from the Bank within 2 working days. In this call, you will also be requested to provide your preferred branch for opening account. The delivery of the debit card will be made from the same branch.
  8. Upon successful verification, you will receive a case reference number (OTH number). Note: The new account will not be permitted for debit transactions, until you complete “in-person” verification, document verification, collection of debit card and signature capture.
  9. You will receive email confirmation from the bank on opening of the account with the OTH number.
  10. Once the Debit card is ready for pickup you will receive an SMS communication. You may then visit the delivery branch opted to receive your debit card.
  11. In order to collect the debit card & activate your account you must carry all the documents submitted over email to the bank for verification, as well as the case reference number (OTH Number).
  12. Sign the documents to activate your account & receive your debit card. Welcome to Meethaq!

FAQs:

Will Meethaq process my request if I am a US National or Resident?
If you are a US Tax Resident or US National / Green card holder or have an address/telephone number in USA or make ongoing payments to USA then at Meethaq we will not be able to process your request to open an account.

What type of accounts can be opened / requested using this facility of Digital Account Opening?
This facility is available to open the following type of accounts only, the currency in which account can be opened is OMR only:

  • Premium Savings Account
  • Hibati Prize Draw Savings Account
  • Neswa Savings Account for ladies

What is the eligibility criteria to use this facility to request Digital Account Opening?

  • Only customers 18 years or above can open the account through this facility.
  • Only individual new to bank or existing customers can avail this facility, corporate or other institutional clients can open account by visiting a Meethaq Branch.
  • Joint, Minor or Child accounts cannot be opened using this facility.

When will my request get fulfilled and what are the next steps after form/documents submission?
The Turnaround Time (TAT) to process your request is 3 working days subject to provision of all requirements as mentioned above, in case you face a delay please write at meethaq@bankmuscat.com

  • Our team will contact you at the GSM/Mobile number mentioned in the account opening application from within 2 working days of request submission to verify the details and proceed with the request. In this call, you will also be requested to provide your preferred branch for delivery of the debit card.
  • Upon successful verification and opening of the account, you will receive an email with the case reference number (OTH number).
    Note: The new account will not be permitted for debit transactions, until you complete “in-person” verification, document/signature verification and collection of debit card.
  • You will receive SMS notification from the bank once your debit card is ready at your preferred delivery branch.
  • On receipt of the SMS, visit your preferred delivery branch to receive your debit card. You must bring with you all the required documents (print of application form is optional) for verification, as well as the case reference number (OTH Number).

What happens if I do not come to collect my Debit card from the preferred Meethaq Branch?
The Bank will retain the Debit card and account opening request for up to 60 days. After the lapse of 60 days the Debit card will be destroyed and the account will be closed. In case you wish to open the account again you will have to submit a new request.
